Modular rail expansion joints are a specialized solution for bridges with large movements, high loads, and long-term service-life requirements. The system consists of multiple load-bearing steel rails that slide over low-friction materials, ensuring smooth and stable operation.
Main components:
• Load-bearing steel rails: receive and transfer loads to the girder structure.
• PTFE or UHMWPE sliding plates: provide a low-friction sliding surface and reduce wear.
• Modular connecting system: increases movement capacity by adding more rails.
• Noise- and water-sealing glands: reduce noise, limit vibration, and prevent water ingress.
• Anchor bars and fixing steel plates: ensure a rigid connection to the concrete.
Operating principle:
The rails move relative to each other via the PTFE/UHMWPE sliding interface, allowing the bridge to expand or contract due to temperature, loads, or bearing movements, while maintaining stability and smooth performance.
